Types of Concrete Admixtures
Concrete admixtures are of different types and they are as follows:
1. Accelerator :-
commonly used admixtures are calcium formate , silica fume ,calcium chloride ( commonly used)
2. Retarder :-
commonly used admixtures are Gypsum , starch , sugar , salts of acids ( up to 0.06 % retarder)
3. Water reducer:-
Plasticizer , Super plasticizer etc
4. Pozzolonic admixtures:-
Naturally occurring Pozzolanic materials are clay, shale, volcanic tuffs, pumicite, etc. and artificial pozzolans available are fly ash, silica fume, blast furnace slag, rice husk ash, surkhi etc
5. Air entraining concrete:-
Vinsol resin, darex , Teepol
