A BSR crash course. Here's what's probably needed to put one back in use. This has to be the toughest BSR yet. It needed everything. They don't get much worse than this. Trying to keep it short, but thorough enough to document. Hope you get some tips, as millions of these were produced. Most have the same disease. Also, sometimes the Tetrad cartridge can have a weak distorted right channel, & replacements can be hard to find. Tested this on 45's, I'm sure to try LP's & 78's, but you'll get the idea, in order to get all the functions working. The jury is still out on the BSR 45 adapter. It should be the correct one, however it does not function as it should. Will update once that is solved. This is a 1983-ish, $69.95 Radio Shack Realistic LAB-49 42-2955. Same changer used in Morse/Electrophonic, Soundesign, Capehart, Lloyds, Sears, etc. You name it. A real VM killer. Everyone used these. Can't say they're a cause of damage to records too badly, as some folks might say. All changers have a pusher pressing against the groove wall towards the end of play. That's why the hit songs are always the last song on the 1st. side? The most wear-out the grooves zone? The least space for music information at the end & the pusher rod/shaft does not help matters any on some changers. Update: The BSR 45 adapter seems to be working ok now.
