In 1933, Dr. Carter G. Woodson, an African-American historian, author, journalist and the founder of the Association for the Study of African American Life and History, published "The Mis-education of the Negro." My guest, Dr. Jeff Menzise and author of "Dumbin Down: Reflections on the Mis-Education of the Negro, argues that much, if not all, of Dr. Woodson's observations now over 80 years ago are still true of the education experience of the "American African." Dr. Menzise is an alumnus of both Fisk and Howard Universities where he received advanced training and degrees in clinical psychology and is licensed as a school psychologist in the District of Columbia. He is also on the staff of The Institute for Urban Research at Morgan State University.
