Two phone calls from the White House may have set Russia and Ukraine on the road to peace. After speaking with Vladimir Putin, US President Donald Trump says the talks to end the war will begin 'immediately'. The Russian leader also invited President Trump to Moscow, saying it's time the two administrations work together. While in the other call Volodymyr Zelenskyy said he hoped, President Putin could be 'pressured' into peace.
Negotiators in the Middle East are scrambling to ensure the Gaza Ceasefire and hostage release deal holds. The Israeli government has repeated earlier threats of returning to fighting, if Hamas does not free hostages on Saturday as planned.
The UN says the effects of widespread looting, and the closure of Goma airport is heavily impeding humanitarian efforts in the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Rwandan-backed M-23 fighters are pushing further into the country's east after seizing Goma last month.
