Video Not Working? Fix It Now

on this episode of 'Bench Engine' we drill down into the oil change procedure on a brand new 20 450/500/501 engine and take a look at all the tips and tricks for completing a full LOF with notes about specific parts and components to pay attention to in an attempt to make the most comprehensive oil change video ever. while the example engine in this video is a 20-21, most of the tips and components apply to the 12-19 engine as well. check your service manual and parts fiche to confirm. A few key things to remember when changing oil: *pull the tranny screen and magnet plug first, the engine screen last. Reinstall in any order *don’t remove the oil pressure plug *use a summer and winter weight oil as recommended in the service manual and per the ambient ride temperatures in your area *change the filter as often as you feel comfortable with, we do ours every other oil change *always pre soak the filter or half fill the filter cavity *the best performing (shifting and clutch slip) oil we’ve tested is the Motul 7100 T4 10W/50 JASO master approval list http://www.jalos.or.jp/onfile/pdf/4T_EV_LIST.pdf incidentally Shell really does have legit MA rated oil and Rotella isn't in. it's known as Shell Advance released in the late 90's with a base stock created from natural gas and it's good enough for BMW Motorrad because they bottle it as their Advantec Pro oil which is what your new Bimmer comes with already in the crankcase. https://www.bmw-motorrad.com.au/en/service/genuine-oil.html https://www.shell.com/energy-and-innovation/natural-gas/gas-to-liquids.html https://www.rednyellow.co.jp/company/history/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZT0prelEUA https://www.shell.com/motorist/oils-lubricants/advance-for-motorcycles/advance-4-stroke-motorcycle-oil.html o-rings / crush washer mentioned in this service: *OIL DRAIN BOLT* magnet drain bolt crush washer (X1) 12X18X.5 PN 58038022000 *ENGINE OIL PUMP* PUMP SCREEN, ENGINE, O-RING (X2) 12.5X1.5 PN 07701250151 PLUG, PUMP SCREEN, ENGINE, O-RING (X1) 17.17X1.78 PN 0770020170 OIL SCREEN PN 59038016100 *TRANSMISSION OIL PUMP* PUMP SCREEN, TRANSMISSION, O-RING 12X2 Part# 0770012021 PLUG, PUMP SCREEN, TRANSMISSION, O-RING (X1) 17X2 Part# 0770170200 *OIL FILTER CAP* O-RING (X1) 33.05X1.78 PN 07703305178 *OIL FILLER CAP* O-RING 19X3 PN 0770191015 Oil pump screen plug (engine and trans) cap torque: 11.1fp Oil drain bolt with magnet torque: 14.8fp Filter cap screws torque: 7.4fp Engine oil capacity 1.3q- 1.6q 10W/50 - 10W/60 https://tacomoto.co/products/tusk-crush-washer-kit Owners Manuals https://www.ktm.com/en-us/service/manuals.html 2020 500 EXCF file:///home/chronos/u-8d056af66dcdfbac61c911b755bcb54e920231f4/MyFiles/Downloads/20_3214013_en_OM%20(1).pdf CORRECTION: in the section about Spectro Oil i mentioned the relationship of KTM / Spectro and Payon - i should have said Penton, as in John Penton https://dirtbikemagazine.com/penton/ CORRECTION: I incorrectly stated Motul was from German, it’s from France. if you need any parts, want us to build you a bike, have any questions or need help with anything on your machine don't hesitate to call or email us. 702-812-6626 [email protected] https://tacomoto.co/ also join us on the best ktm / husq tech support group on facebook: https://www.facebook.com/groups/EXCFEPERFROMANCETECHTALK/?ref=share
