History Hit’s Tristan Hughes returns to the British Museum to get a special look at items from their upcoming touring exhibition Ancient Sudan: enduring heritage, an exploration into the Kushite Kingdom, a long lost civilisation that flourished in Sudan nearly 3,000 years ago.
For over 1,200 years from the 8th century BC to the 4th century AD, the Kingdom of Kush flourished and at its height was one of the largest empires in the ancient world, ruling from the Blue Nile to the Levant.

This upcoming exhibition will examine this ancient culture's skilled craftsmanship, distinct religious beliefs, and the important role of women, as well as exploring the rich culture of modern Sudan. Highlights include beautiful examples of ceramics, a carved stone offering table and a striking bronze depiction of a goddess.
