Understanding the History of Jews and Christians Not Recognizing the Prophet Muhammad

History shows that Jews and Christians have theological and historical reasons why they do not recognize the Prophet Muhammad as the last prophet. To understand this, we need to look at the perspective of each religion and its historical development.

1. Jewish Perspective
The Concept of Prophethood in Judaism
In Judaism, a prophet must come from the descendants of Israel (Bani Israel), namely from the lineage of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. The Prophet Muhammad came from the descendants of Ishmael, not Isaac, so from a Jewish perspective, he does not meet their criteria for prophethood.
The Last Prophet in Judaism
Jews believe that after the prophets in the Hebrew Bible, the era of prophethood has ended. They are still waiting for the coming of the Messiah who is believed to be a leader who will restore the kingdom of Israel, not a prophet with a new revelation.
Differences in the Concept of God
Judaism strongly emphasizes the oneness of God (strict monotheism) and does not accept the concept of new revelation after the Torah and their prophetic books. They reject the Qur'an as a holy book and the Prophet Muhammad as the bearer of revelation.

2. Christian Perspective
Jesus as the Son of God and Savior
In Christian teachings, Jesus (Prophet Isa in Islam) is the Son of God and part of the Trinity. They believe that Jesus is the way of salvation and that no prophet after him brought new revelation.
Rejection of the Prophet Muhammad
Christians do not recognize Muhammad as a prophet because his teachings contradict the core of their beliefs, especially regarding the oneness of God without the concept of the Trinity and the rejection of the crucifixion of Jesus.
Different Revelations
Christians believe that the Gospel is part of God's plan of salvation that has been perfected through Jesus. Therefore, they do not accept the Qur'an as a continuation of God's revelation.

Jewish and Christian rejection of Muhammad's prophethood is more influenced by theological and historical differences. Although Islam recognizes their prophets, the two religions have different understandings of the concepts of prophecy, revelation, and salvation.
