The 12th century temples of Hoysala period joined elite list last month and are now UNESCO world heritage site. The temples at Belur, Halebid and Somnathpura in Karnataka joined an elite group of world heritage sites, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Hoysala empire that ruled between 10th and 14th century. The three temples remain in impeccable condition despite the onslaught from northern invaders and other empires.
