Locally-run oil wells can be found in various places in Indonesia. The practice has become massive, causing Pertamina (the state oil company) to lose up to 1,500 barrels of crude oil every day. Asumsi visited an oil well in a secret kampung, located about four hours drive from Palembang in South Sumatra. With traditional tools and minimum risk management, locals put their life in danger as they mine the oil from their own backyards.
