Although, this Qawwali "Unke Andaze Karam" is in a Ghazal form of writing. It is very plainly evident that Naseeruddin Sahib aka Pir Naseer is writing about either Babuji, his Grandfather. Or that he is writing about Pir Meher Ali Shah Sahib, his Great Grandfather. In any case, some of the lyrics like "Na Suna Uss Ne", lead me to believe that he is writing about someone he has had physical, face-to-face meetings with. Like most Sufi writers, they often write about their Sheikh (Sufi Master) or someone they look up to in the humblest and loving way imaginable.
What really attracts me to Naseer Sahib's writings is that he's not a Sufi from centuries ago. He was just here, mere few years ago. And now, his memories remain in the hearts of all his disciples and others to whom he imparted his wisdom, love, and friendship. From what I've heard of his Sheikh, Babuji, from my own father...his Sufi lineage is pure breed (Aala Nasab). And that is shown in his writings time and time again.
While the writing is so full of love and longing, I feel that none other than Ustad Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan Qawwali could have done justice to this poetry. Musically speaking, the entire qawwali is in Raag Jaunpuri, from start to finish. This is not trivial, but very important to music students because few Raag like Darbari, Jaunpuri, Adaana, Asavari, Kanada, and a few others are stacked on top of each other and are not easily distinguished by ordinary hobbyist listeners. Here, Jaunpuri is very clear about how it goes Sa-Re-Ma-Pa...and holds at Pa, when the qawwal reads, "Un-Ke-And-Daa".

Unke Andaaze Karam, Unpe Woh Aana Dil Ka
His Ways Of Imparting Favors, And Then How Heart Is Set On Them
Unke Andaaze Karam
His Ways Of Imparting Favors
Unke, Unke, Andaaze Karam
His, His Ways Of Imparting Favors
Unke Andaaze Karam
His Ways Of Imparting Favors
Unke Unke Unke, Andaaze Karam
His, His, His, Ways Of Imparting Favors
Unke Andaaze Karam
His Ways Of Imparting Favors
Karam, Karam, Karam!
Favors, Favors, Favors!
Unke Andaaze Karam
His Ways Of Imparting Favors
Unke Andaaze Karam, Unpe Woh Aana Dil Ka
His Ways Of Imparting Favors, And Then How Heart Is Set On Them
Haaye Woh Waqt, Woh Baateiñ, Woh Zamaana Dil Ka
Oh Those Times, Those Talks, That Era Of The Heart
Mujhe Yaad Hei, Woh Zara Zara
I Remember Still, Although Very Little
Unhe Yaad Ho, Ke Na Yaad Ho
Whether They Remember, Or Don't Remember
Haaye Woh Waqt, Woh Baateiñ, Woh Zamaana Dil Ka
Oh Those Times, Those Talks, That Era Of The Heart
Na Suna Uss Ne, Tawajjo Se, Fasaana Dil Ka
Didn't Even Listen, Attentively To, The Long Tales Of The Heart
Ummr Guzri Hei Magar, Dard Na Jaana Dil Ka
Ages Have Passed But, The Pain Hasn't Gone Away Of The Heart
Dil Jaloñ Se, Dil Lagi Achi Nahiñ
Infatuation Is Not Natural, With Those In Grief
Rone Waaloñ Se, Hañsi Achi Nahiñ
Laughter Is Not Natural, With Those Who Are Crying
Dil Laga Kar, Pata Chala Dil Ko
After Being Given Away, The Heart Itself Realized
Aashiqi Dil Lagi Nahiñ Hoti
Real Love's Passion Is Not Mere Infatuation
Kiya Khabar Thi, Ke Ishq Ke Haathoñ...
How Would I Have Known, That At The Hands Of Passion...
Aesi Haalat Tabaah Hoti Hei
One's Condition Is Obliterated Like This?
Baat Karta Huñ, Damm Ulajh Ta Hei
Whenever I Speak, Breathing Becomes Unbearable
Saañs Leta Huñ, Aaha Hoti Hei
When I Inhale, Moaning Occurs
Zakhm Pe Zakhm, Kha Ke Ji
Wound Over Wounds, Endure And Live
Apne Lahu Ke, GhooñT Pi
Gulps Of Your Own Blood, You Must Sip
Aaha Na Kar, Laboñ Ko Si
Do Not Moan, Seal Your Lips
Dil Lagi, Dil Ki Lagi, Ban Ke MiTa Deti Hei
Infatuation Turns To Heartbreak, Which Then Erases One's Existence
Rog Dushman Ko Bhi, Ya Rab Na Lagana Dil Ka
Never Give This Infliction, Even To Enemies Oh Lord
Woh Bhi Apne Na Huwe, Dil Bhi Gaya Haathoñ Se
They Never Became Mine, And I Lost My Heart As Well
Aese Aane Se To, Behtar Tha Na Aana Dil Ka
If This Is Admiration, Better That Heart Never Admired
Naqsh-Baraab Nahiñ, Wehm Nahiñ, Khwaab Nahiñ
Not An Illusion, Not Delusion, Nor A Dream
Aap Kyuñ Khel Samajh, Te Heiñ MiTaana Dil Ka
Why Do You Assume It's A Game, To Erase The Heart Completely
Unki Mehfil Meiñ Naseer, Unke Tabassum Ki Qasam
In His Gathering Oh Naseer, I Swear By His Smile
Dekhte Reh Gaey Hamm, Haath Se Jaana Dil Ka
We Remained Watching, Heart Slipping From Our Hand
