Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Researchers are often interested in obtaining high-density repeated measures data, sometimes called intensive longitudinal data (or ILD), to examine "life as it is lived." However, as cool as ILD may be in theory, determining how to appropriately analyze ILD can be quite challenging in practice. Dan and Patrick start by describing some of the complexities of ILD (e.g., cyclical time trends, auto-correlation, sparse measurement occasions), then explore the multilevel (or mixed effects) model (MLM) as a powerful and flexible method for analyzing ILD that is uniquely well suited to incorporate these complexities. Dan and Patrick conclude with a brief comparison of the MLM to other available models for ILD and discuss additional resources available for learning more about this important methodology.
