In this, episode 181 of a 3 part mini series of Powertec 10, DV looks at what is most commonly used as a high performance bore finish for a typical build just short of a ProStock or a top echelon NASCAR engine builds. Spending about 2 hours in your own shop/garage you can finish your engines to increase power, virtually eliminate break-in, and substantially cut the particulate normally seen with a conventional bore hone and ring prep job. All this adds up to a very much extended bore life (at lease double but usually morte like 4-500%) Sure the ProStock and cup car guys know about this but the point is you most likely DON'T. So once again DV saves the day because this is how he has been doing bore finishing since 1974 with his British Touring Car Championship racer that, by the last quarter of the race season could outpace, with ease, any of the high buck factory cars in his class and sometimes those as much as two classes higher. DV's racer was 97 inches, but for many of the racers that year (1974) the 122 and 183 inch cars fell prey to his hard charging Chrysler Avenger. Think about this: DV was using what amounted to about 2000 technology back even before 1974!!
