Fairfield County Park District
Founded in 1981, Fairfield County Park District operates more than 1,000 acres of natural areas and open spaces for education, recreation and conservation, and preserves and maintains many historical features. Our mission is “to protect and conserve natural and historical features of Fairfield County and inspire outdoor exploration”.
Rock Mill, a restored 1824 gristmill, is the most well-known feature of the district. There are many other historical structures to see in the parks - the last remaining WPA Pedestrian Bridge in the region, five covered bridges, an early 1800s log-framed home, four Ohio & Erie Canal locks, Cross Mound (an ancient earthwork of unknown origin and purpose), a Stover windmill, 200-year old cemeteries, more!
