高野山 常喜院 Jokiin, Koyasan

Koyasan is the head temple of Shingon Esoteric Buddhism, founded by Kobo Daishi / Kukai.

Since ancient times, Esoteric Buddhism has been a discipline created to be experienced / sensed from more subtle "invisible things" or "intuition and sensation" rather than letters and scriptures, the “essential” core of its teachings is only passed on to disciples who have received a lot of training from teacher priests, and has a history that has never been widely disclosed.

Since so many people from Japan and abroad visited Mt. Koya after the "Sacred Sites and Pilgrimage Routes in the Kii Mountain Range" was registered as World Heritage Site in 2004. We have received comments such as "What are the teachings of Singon Buddhism?” "I want to stay in a real religious town and feel something" and "I want to experience esoteric Buddhism."

We would like to spread the word gradually
to as many people as possible, so they can get the peace of mind that Kobo Daishi / Kukai aimed for.

Thank you,
