Monterey Public Library

Monterey Public Library is California’s first public library, established in 1849, and the largest public library on the Monterey Peninsula. We offer an extensive collection of physical and digital resources, in addition to a wide-range of public programs for all ages. We preserves Monterey’s history through the Library's California History Room Collection and Archive, which collects and makes accessible materials about the Monterey area and California, more broadly.
