The Columbia Orchestra
Now in its fourth decade, the Columbia Orchestra continues to perform not only the masterworks of the classical repertoire but also works by today’s new generation of composers, including Tan Dun, Osvaldo Golijov, Joan Tower, Sofia Gubaidulina, Daniel Bernard Roumain, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and nearby composers in the Baltimore-Washington, DC, area.
Smaller, more intimate performances include a free chamber music series, our Young People's Concerts with a Musical Instrument Petting Zoo, collaborations with neighboring dance companies, and even live musical accompaniment to silent films through the AFI Silver’s Silent Film Festivals. The Baltimore Sun [Maryland] has named the Columbia Orchestra "Howard County's premier ensemble for instrumental music."
