和紙の伝統文化を守り継承するだけではなく、新しい素材の作り手として、むしろ和紙を「伝統」という世界から解き放し、さまざまな技法の開発・素材の研究活動を行なっています。
ユーザーの声に耳を傾け、現代の生活空間へ、そして次代へと生かしきる和紙文化の新しい発信拠点を目指しています。
For 300 years and 8 generations, Awagami has been making Japanese washi paper for artist, designers, hobbyists and photographers too. Awagami also houses a Papermaking museum, international artist residency program, printmaking studio, workshops and more.
