The Geospatial Users Group is an outreach and education group that is comprised of the former Florida GNSS Users Group and the former Emerging Technologies User Group of the Florida Surveying and Mapping Society. The purpose of the group is to provide outreach and education of Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), Geomatics Informatics, Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Lidar, Mobile Mapping, Remote Sensing, Unmanned Aerial Vehicles and other geopositional mapping sciences used by GIS Professionals, Photogrammetrists, Surveyors and any other positional and mapping based profession. MAPPS (An Association of Photogrammetry, Mapping, and Geospatial Firms) defines Geospatial as: “In simple terms, geospatial information is geography and mapping. It is “place based” or “locational” information. It is data tied to and portrayed on a map.”
