Hi, I am Gerry O’Hara and have been interested in radio since I was around 14, becoming a licensed radio amateur in 1972. I received training in the radio and audio repair trade in an old-fashioned radio and TV store back in the UK while still at school (weekend/vacation job) and during vacations while at university, though went on to become a geologist, hydrogeologist and then environmental engineer. My family and I moved from the UK to Canada in 1997. My current main interests are restoring domestic radios of the 1920’s through 1940’s and communications receivers through to the early-1970's, though I will tackle just about any radio or amplifier with tubes in it, as well as writing articles on radio restoration topics. I retired as a Senior Principal (engineer) with an international consulting company in 2017, making a little more time for radios at last!
