Saketharaman

Saketharaman is a sought after top Carnatic musician, and a prime-time performer during the Margazhi festival. Known for his virtuosity and classicism, he is also an innovator who finds immense possibilities within the grammar and framework of traditional Carnatic music. He is the prime disciple of legend Lalgudi Jayaraman and is currently under the tutelage of senior Vidwan Nagai Muralidharan.

Besides being a star performer, who has won several accolades such as the Yuva Puraskar from the Sangeet Natak Akademi and best vocalist award from the Madras Music Academy for three consecutive years, Saketharaman is also a prolific composer, often called “Prince of Pallavis”. He has composed over 150 Ragam Thanam Pallavi. He has set to tune many other texts such as Meera bhajans and compositions of Annamacharya, Sankaracharya, Purandaradasa, Sadasiva Brahmendral, Subramania Bharathi among others.
