Uncharted Japan
We're John and Josephine, and among Japan travel bloggers we have a unique background. Josephine was born and raised in Japan. Her father, grandfather and great grandfather were all born in Japan. Her great great grandparents arrived in Japan as missionaries on November 21, 1861 just as Japan opened to the west. It was a dangerous and chaotic time as the Shogunate was losing power to the Emperor. The family still owns a house north of Nagano which we visit often.
We started Uncharted Japan (with zero video editing experience) to assist others in their trip planning with a focus on the lesser known parts of Japan. The majority of visitors stick to Tokyo, Osaka and Kyoto. In doing so, they're missing out on so much more, while at the same time being herded around like cattle at the popular tourist spots.
