In response to the mass evacuation of troops from Dunkirk on the 4th June 1940, Germany planned a full scale invasion of the British Isles ready for 1941.
Military Geographical Information, gathered prior to 1939, formed the foundation of the plans we are now currently reviewing. With a copy of these plans in hand, we are now investigating what counter defences the British put in place, what their minor objectives were and how the invading force was going to be stopped.
Over the next five short documentaries we will look at the plans, the defences, kit, and length the British went to in order to protect their coastlines.
