Sharik Atkinson (she/they) is an emerging film director who is passionate about impactful storytelling highlighting queer and BIPOC narratives. Grounded in her identity as a lesbian who immigrated to the U.S. from Jamaica at a young age; Sharik’s work is deeply personal and resonant.
Sharik’s directorial debut BODEGA (2024) is a psychodrama exploring the nuances within lesbian relationships, with the aim to bring more queer stories that aren’t centered around the trauma of “coming out” to the screen.
Sharik’s most recent projects include a spec commercial for Urban Outfitters, a black lesbian web series called “We Kissed Once”, and a TV pilot heavily inspired by the L-Word called “Man Hating Lesbians.”
