Development Study Club
Development Study Club (DSC/formerly Madat Club) is an independent discussion club based in Surabaya, East Java.
Created amidst the pandemic to keep the interest in social politics discussions in East Java alive despite being in lockdown, DSC emphasizes itself on building a network across communities of like-minded individuals, organizations, and universities. DSC has organized monthly themed discussions and other open discussions on contemporary topics or books.
Taking opportunities of the online medium, DSC has become a discussion platform for researchers from Indonesia and around the world to share their research and insights on the topic of their respective studies. DSC has taken topics on social politics, philosophy, Islam, democracy, anthropology, and gender.
Since March 2022, DSC has been organizing a series of discussions in honor of Prof. George McTurnan Kahin, which then became its special program under the "Kahin Lecture" by DSC.
