The Tenterhook Times

The Tenterhook Times

Hi – we are Jackie and Graham. We live in rural Mid Wales in the UK near a wonderful town and community called Llanidloes. We've been here 30 years now.

We make videos about fun stuff we do – organic gardening, traditional folk music, travel locally (and sometimes further afield or even abroad), and local community events - especially if live music, dance or green activities are involved! One of our favourite gardening projects is our passive solar greenhouse experiment - we are following the growing seasons year by year.

Why Tenterhooks?

Our veggie garden is on the site of a former fulling mill next to the River Severn. In the 19th century, when the flannel industry was at its height in Mid Wales, local workers hung woollen cloth out to dry on wooden frames called “tenterhooks”. They used to collect urine to wash the cloth in! Bizarre but true!

We hope you enjoy our small channel which gives a glimpse into our lives in Mid Wales.
