I spent the majority of my career as a mechanic working on Volvo's. early Volvos used the VCS handheld scan tool to talk. 1998 to 2000 used the VCI 2000. (A horrible tool) and then Volvo created VIDA and the DICE adaptor. The VIDA software is slow, and can be confusing at first, but it does have a great Repair area, diag area, and even a parts catalog as well as the factory level scan tool functions. Even the early 2001 Volvos had almost 20 computers so owning one of these is critical if you want to really know how to keep your Volvo alive.
