ஸ்ரீ காஞ்சீ காமகோடி பீடம் பஞ்சாங்க ஸதஸ் மற்றும் சென்னை ஸம்ஸ்க்ருத கல்லூரியால் “உத்தராயணமும் மகர ஸங்க்ராந்தியும்” என்ற கருத்தரங்கு ஏற்படுத்தப்பட்டது. இது 2025-பிப்-18 அன்று சென்னை ஸம்ஸ்க்ருத கல்லூரி வளாகத்தில் நடந்தேறியது.
பொதுவாக மகர ஸங்க்ராந்தி (தை மாதப் பிறப்பு) உத்தராயணம் என்று கருதப்படுகிறது. ஆனால் ஸூர்யன் மகர ராசியில் நுழைவதற்கு சுமார் 24 நாட்கள் முன்பே அவரது வடக்கு நோக்கிய பயணம் கண்கூடாகத் தொடங்குகிறது. இது குறித்த விழிப்புணர்வு மற்றும் கலந்துரையாடலை ஏற்படுத்துவதே இந்த கருத்தரங்கின் நோக்கம். சுமார் 100 வருடம் முன்பே ஆய்வாளர்கள் இது குறித்து எழுதியுள்ளனர் என்பது குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது.
வேதம், தர்ம ஶாஸ்த்ரம் மற்றும் ஜ்யௌதிஷ நூல்களில் சொன்னபடி ராசிகளைக் காட்டிலும் உத்தராயணம் முதலியவை பின்னோக்கி செல்கின்றன என்பது நமது முன்னோர்கள் அறிந்த ஒன்று. இது நவீன வானியல் ரீதியிலும் உறுதியானது. பூமியின் பார்வையில் ஸூர்யன் வடக்கு/தெற்கு நகருவதால் வெப்பநிலை மாறி அதன் மூலமாக மழை ஏற்படுகிறது. நமது பண்டிகைகள் இத்தகைய இயற்கை மாற்றங்களுக்கு முக்கியத்துவம் அளிக்கின்றன.

Shri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam Panchanga Sadas and Madras Sanskrit College organized the seminar “Uttarayanam and Makara Sankranti”. This took place on 2025-Feb-18 in the Madras Sanskrit College premises.
Makara Sankranti is commonly considered as Uttarayanam. However, the northward movement of the Sun visibly starts about 24 days before he enters the zodiac sign of Makara (Capricorn). The goal of this seminar was to create awareness and discussion about this. It is notable that researchers have written about this even about a 100 years back.
The reverse movement of Uttarayanam etc with respect to the zodiac was known to our ancients as said in the Vedas, Dharma Shastra and Jyautisha. This is confirmed by modern astronomy. The north/south movement of the sun relative to the earth causes the meteorological changes of temperature, which causes monsoon. Our festivals give importance to such natural changes.
