Adventure Time's vamps draw inspiration from Major Arcana, and each bloodsucker is based on the card they share a name with (V.K. being the exception, for he is a King – not a hamster). Stakes is masterfully ensanguinated with the influence of tarot, for the miniseries is not just about hunting vampires; it's also a captivating exploration of Marcy's personal journey to cope with her immortal existence and find the strength to persevere. Those vampires whom Marceline fights against represent characteristics and elements in her own life, and that makes the Stakes miniseries a very holistic experience – the Major Arcana apply toward Marceline just as much as they do to the vampires.
