Vance linked the devastating tragedy to the ongoing issue of short-staffed air traffic controllers, which he attributed to policies from the previous administration, specifically Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) hiring practices at the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).
During the interview with Maria Bartiromo, Vance emphasized that while President Donald Trump was not blaming any individual for the crash, he had made clear that DEI standards had created staffing shortages, which, in turn, compromised aviation safety.
