Video Not Working? Fix It Now

Nādabhṛṅga is very happy to bring you yet another rare archival video. Vidwan Sri S Balachander was one of the most brilliant, and possibly one of the most misunderstood (during his time) vidwans of South Indian Classical Music. His revolutionary techniques of playing, resulted in him successfully converting the Veena from a musical instrument to a physical extension of his musical thoughts. This was a direct result of his genius, and his prolific research into the playing, handling and making of the instrument. This concert was performed by the great legend at the behest of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR), Delhi, at the FICCI Auditorium, New Delhi, on the evening of the 20th of October, 1986. This concert was performed on the eve of the departure of Sri Balachander and his group of accompanying musicians to China, sponsored by the ICCR. A couple of copies of the video recording of the concert in China are already available elsewhere on YouTube. We are extremely happy to share this rare concert recording in connection with the first anniversary of this channel (19th May). The programme details are:
