The Molecular Characterization Initiative (MCI) is a unique NCI-funded program that offers clinical molecular profiling of DNA and RNA to children and young adults with a primary solid cancer diagnosis being cared for at over 220 institutions affiliated with the Children’s Oncology Group. Since March of 2022, over 4500 cancer patients have been tested with an average turnaround time of 21 days from sample submission to result. All data and results are de identified and submitted to the NCI’s Childhood Cancer Database. Dr. Elaine Mardis presents on the current results and features some of the upcoming improvements to the MCI project.
