VIKING- MEDIEVAL BACKPACK-. GOKSTAD
In these videos you can observe the construction of a medieval backpack.
To do so, we have relied on one of the few remains that have come down to us. The remains of a Viking backpack
meeting in Gokstad. In reality, only the base and the cover have been preserved, but the holes in it allow us to assume that it was made of wicker. Other sources, such as later paintings, also point to the construction of basket backpacks. It was cheap and light material.
Supposedly it could be an artifact for going hunting since there is an engraving with a hunting scene on the cover.
The result is surprisingly comfortable and light.
I hope you like my interpretation.
