The lovely cottage garden is a whimsical mix of flowers, herbs, fruit, and vegetables, providing inspiration for many of Potter’s famous characters. I loved reading the information cards scattered throughout the house and garden, detailing how Hill Top shaped the stories of Peter Rabbit, Tom Kitten, and more.

Entry to Hill Top House costs £15, but you can explore the garden, café, and gift shop for free. After your visit, don’t miss the Tower Bank Arms pub next door—especially their Sunday Roast Dinner, which was absolutely delicious!
📚 A Few Fun Facts from the Vlog
✧ Beatrix Potter bought Hill Top in 1905 with the proceeds from The Tale of Peter Rabbit. It became a place of independence and creativity, far from her London life.
✧ The interiors of Hill Top appear in many of her books, including The Tale of Tom Kitten and The Tale of Samuel Whiskers.
✧ When Potter passed away in 1943, she left 14 farms and 4,000 acres of Lake District land to the National Trust, preserving the landscape that inspired her beloved stories.
