Can you travel to Korea without taking leave? Yes, you can! Last month, I accidentally found an unbelievably cheap round-trip ticket to Daegu, and without hesitation, I booked it. Right after work on Friday, I packed my bags, took a midnight flight, and arrived in Daegu early Saturday morning! Then, I flew back to Taiwan at 10 PM on Sunday, landing around 1 AM. A solid 48-hour trip packed with fun—how could anyone resist?
Daegu has always been on my travel bucket list. It’s a city with a vibrant metropolitan vibe, yet it’s also rich in history and culture. Many people say that Daegu is a food paradise, so how could I miss such a gem?
Day 1 started with Daegu’s "Top 10 Dishes." For my first meal, I had the most authentic ox bone soup—a must-try! Having this for breakfast is simply amazing. The rich broth combined with chewy ox blood creates an unforgettable taste! Another must-eat item is the red bean cream bun—perfectly sweet and creamy, yet not overwhelming. It was absolutely delicious! In the evening, I visited Grilled Intestine Street, where I enjoyed delicious grilled intestines paired with beer. What a treat!
And don’t assume that Daegu is a small town with nothing to shop for—it’s actually the ultimate shopping paradise! Unlike Seoul, where everything is packed in one area, Daegu has large independent brand stores, making shopping super comfortable. There are fewer crowds, and the spacious stores make browsing a breeze. I truly believe Daegu deserves the title of “A Shopping-Friendly Paradise.”
