Voice Lessons: Use the "NG" to Find Mask Resonance and Sing Easier - THE SEQUEL

Video Not Working? Fix It Now

In 2014 I made a 5-minute video on the finding mask resonance with the consonant blend “ng”… since then it has had over 100,000 views. Scrolling through the comments it was wonderful to see how many people found new vocal freedom and ease with this exercise, but there were also lots of questions… In this lesson, I am reteaching how to use the “ng” while answering those questions with the hope that even more of you can use this exercise as a pathway to freedom and ease in your voice. So, if you struggle with throat tension while singing, if your tone is breathy or unfocused, if you want to improve the quality of your tone, or if your onset of sound is too heavy or hard… the “ng” can help. The more you do this exercise, the more coordinated you will be about allowing ng-to-vowel to work for you. Have fun with this and let me know how it goes. Until next time…rejoice in your voice!
