The evolution of life on Earth is closely linked to the history of fire, as volcanism played a crucial role in the creation of the first organic molecules and in the appearance of life itself. On the volcanic island of New Britain, located off Papua New Guinea, some animal species have managed to adapt to the wrath of the earth by learning to live in harmony with volcanoes. When a volcanic eruption blankets their habitat in ash, they must choose between staying and adapting or leaving. However, this decision is not easy to make because volcanoes and the paths of life are unpredictable.
