This video will show how to replace rear brake pads and rotors in 2019, 2020, 2021, 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025 Volvo XC40 with electric parking brakes. The 2020 Volvo XC40 T5 Inscription is shown in the video.
We will show how to enable the rear brake replacement service mode without using the OBD2 scanner / diagnostic scan tool or without removing the EPB motor.
During the service mode, the electric parking brake motor will unwind all the way allowing you to compress the caliper piston and replace the rear brake pads and/or rotors.
Caliper Slider Bolts (Pins) Torque: 40 Nm or 30 ft-lbs.
Caliper Bracket Bolts Torque: 110 Nm or 81 ft-lbs.
Rear Rotor Screw Torque: 10 Nm or 7.4 ft-lbs.
Wheel Bolts Torque: 140 Nm or 103 ft-lbs.
