说到豪车，很多人的第一反应可能不是宝马7系、不是奥迪A8、也不是雷克萨斯LS，而是一个亲切的名字“大奔”。没错，不论男女老少，不论对车懂不懂，“大奔”二字都是一个专有名词。它就是奔驰的灵魂所在。它就是S-Class轿车。90年代的W140被人们认为是奔驰的巅峰之作，也是永恒的虎头奔。只可惜，90年代离我相距甚远，W140对我的影响是有限的。而奔驰重振雄风、超越自我的作品W221，在我看来便是我们这个时代最好的奔驰S级。
奔驰的灵魂，在于S-Class，在于它的座右铭“The best or nothing”何为best？其实要说best，我个人的理解是，当一个东西成为他这个类别中的标杆时，就已经是最好。每一个时代的S-Class都在设定新的门槛，W221的科技元素在当时很新颖，放在几年后的今天仍然不过时。抛开当年同价位的宝马7系、奥迪A8，奔驰带来的那种感觉是特别的。它是一种值得向往的东西，它有它的高级，但又不至于高不可攀。它的气质和气场都非常到位，同时达到一个很平衡、很和谐的效果。你或许会问：“它的特点很鲜明吗?” 可以说有，也可以说没有。一方面，奔驰S是D级车的标准，是任何豪华车都会对比的标准，另一方面，选择S级的车主，都有自己的故事，他们每个人的人生经历，都可以被浓缩在在这一辆看似平淡的豪华轿车上。就像W140一样，它对那一个时代的人来说是永远的虎头奔，而W221则是我这一个时代最好的S-Class，因为它改变了一个时代，而不是去适应时代的改变。或许我现在的人生经历不能让我真正感受S级车主内心的那种起伏，但是通过与这辆车相处，我知道，要不就一无所有，要不就尽力做到最好，不留下遗憾。

When it comes to luxury cars, the first reaction of many people may not be the BMW 7 Series, the Audi A8, nor the Lexus LS, but a friendly name “Da Ben” (literally translated to Big Benz). That's right, the word "Da Ben" is an expression exclusive to Mercedes Benz, and Mercedes Benz is the icon of luxury sedans. Regardless of age, gender, and car interest, you probably knew Mercedes Benz even just as a name. The car featured in today’s video is the soul of Mercedes-Benz, and it is the S-Class sedan. The W140 in the 1990s was considered to be the pinnacle of Mercedes-Benz, and it is also commonly referred to as the “Tiger Benz” in China back in the days, as the grill seemly resembles the forehead of a tiger. It's a pity that the 90s was a period far away from me, and W140's influence on me was limited. In comparison, the Mercedes-Benz W221, a work that revives itself and surpasses itself, is, in my opinion, the best Mercedes-Benz S-Class of our time.
The soul of Mercedes-Benz lies in the S-Class and its motto "The best or nothing”. What is “the best”? My personal understanding is that when something becomes the benchmark in its category, it is already the best. The S-Class has always been setting a new threshold for its era. The technological elements of the W221 were advance at the time and did not get outdated even today. Leaving aside the BMW 7 Series and Audi A8 at the same time, the feeling brought by Mercedes-Benz is special. It is something worth yearning for, it has its classiness, but it is not unattainable. Its temperament and attitude are in place, and at the same time, it achieves a very balanced and harmonious effect in terms of luxury and performance. You may ask: "Is the W221 a distinctive car?” You can say yes or no, the answer is really up to you. On the one hand, the Mercedes-Benz S-Class is the standard for luxury cars, which is a standard that any vehicle will compare to. On the other hand, owners who choose S-Class all have their own stories. Each of their life experiences can be concentrated here on a seemingly plain luxury car. Just like the W140, it has always the best car ever made for people in that era. The W221 is the best S-Class in my time, because it changes an era, instead of following the changes of the era. Perhaps my current life experience can't make me sympathize with the emotions of S-Class owners, but by getting along with this car, I learned one thing for sure: Either you do nothing, or try your best without leaving regrets.
