Katsuyama Sagicho Festival is a traditional fire festival held annually on the last Saturday and Sunday of February in Katsuyama City, Fukui Prefecture. With a history of over 300 years, it is known as a festival that welcomes spring. Twelve town districts set up towers where adults and children, dressed in red nagajuban, perform the “Ukidaiko” dance. The lively performance, accompanied by shamisen, flutes, and bells, is a defining feature. The festival reaches its climax on Sunday night with the “Dondo-yaki” ritual, where sacred fire ignites torches to pray for a bountiful harvest and protection from fire. The event is a captivating blend of tradition and festivity.
勝山左義長まつりは、福井県勝山市で毎年2月の最終土・日に開催される伝統的な火祭りで、300年以上の歴史を持ちます。春を呼ぶ祭りとして知られ、市内の12の町内に櫓が建ち、赤い長襦袢姿の大人と子供が「浮き太鼓」を演じます。三味線や笛、鉦の囃子に合わせたユーモラスな踊りが特徴です。クライマックスは日曜夜の「どんど焼き」で、御神火によって松明が燃え上がり、五穀豊穣と鎮火を祈願します。伝統と賑やかな雰囲気が魅力の祭りです。
