In this video, I make a frame for a painting that my daughter made. She is current enrolled in the Fine Arts program at VCU and majoring in painting.
The frame is made from walnut and soft maple. It's a pretty hefty frame. The walnut is about 2" thick, so it's thick enough to hold the canvas which is about 1.5" thick. The maple is used as a matte around the oil painting, and it is also used as an inlay around the frame, and as splines in each of the mitered corners.
