Waltham Watch Dials: Hand-Painted vs. Photographic Transfer

In this video, we look closely at two dials fitted on pocket watches produced at the American Waltham Watch Company factory to study the differences between hand-painted dials and dials created using the photographic transfer process and black enamel powder. The watch exhibited with the hand-painted dial was manufactured around 1867, while the watch fitted with the photographic transfer process dial was produced around 1888.
