This is my second time visiting Myanmar. During my first visit, I experienced the city’s atmosphere and culture but didn’t dive deep into the daily lives of the Burmese people. This time, I decided to return during a period of internal conflict to see firsthand how the situation is affecting people’s lives. How are they continuing their daily routines amidst such uncertainty?
This journey has given me a closer look at the challenges faced by ordinary Burmese citizens. Traveling from Yangon to different regions, I witnessed the impact of the ongoing war—rising living costs, difficulties in transportation, and the increasing struggles of daily life. Military checkpoints are everywhere, and certain areas are completely off-limits to tourists like myself. For many, uncertainty has become a part of everyday existence.
Along the way, I explored local markets that reflect the realities of life here. Some prices have dropped compared to my previous visit, but the way people adapt to these changes is what stood out the most. I spoke with locals to understand how they are navigating this new reality—continuing to support their families, making ends meet, and pushing forward despite the ongoing conflict.
