It was a case rooted in a moment of violence born out of desperation. He claimed that his stepfather, an abusive man, had been beating his mother repeatedly. One day, after an argument, he said enough was enough. He confronted his stepfather, and in a moment of rage, a fight broke out. It ended with his stepfather fatally stabbed.

The courtroom heard his story, and after a tense trial, he was convicted of manslaughter rather than murder.
