After 13 years of cycling across six continents, I attempted my first marathon—the 50th Berlin Marathon, one of the six World Marathon Majors. With little training, I wasn’t sure if I could finish.
The excitement of the crowd and the energy of the music kept me going, but fatigue hit early. I stopped multiple times, went off course, walked on and off, went to the toilet, and even had to sit down. It was tougher than I ever imagined.
But beyond the physical struggle, I discovered something deeper—the beauty of people. Throughout the race, I witnessed moments of kindness, encouragement, and human connection that moved me in ways I never expected.
