A Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) subcommittee held its first hearing focused on “improper payments" as DOGE takes a deeper look at how taxpayer dollars are being spent.
"'Improper payments' is another way of saying 'waste, fraud, and abuse' in the federal government," Brandon Arnold, who is the executive vice president of The National Taxpayers Union, told The National News Desk’s Jan Jeffcoat.
"We literally spent hundreds of billions of dollars each and every year on things that we shouldn't -- payments that shouldn't be made, fraudulent payments and so forth -- people that are gaming the system," he added. "So, I'm really excited that DOGE and the DOGE subcommittee focused on this enormous problem.
