A world champion doing Red Bull Snow Boundaries before Red Bull was Red Bull. He pioneered extreme snowmobile racing. Like rebuilding machines as they competed for speed and jump distance. Even putting two engines in a sled to win world record time. Wayne Burkel and his father, Tony, began with two 1967 Polaris machines. In 1968 they excelled in racing. Wayne placed 1st in Cross Country, Roseau. 2nd in the Speed Obstacle race. 2nd in the speed race at the World Championships and 3rd at the 6th Annual World Championship 1969, Eagle River, WI. 1969 Artic Cat Open Class Race, Birchwood, Mn. 1st at Power Toboggan Race, Gimli, Manitoba on a Polaris 600. At Smo-mo-cade Wayne soared to an 84'9" to set a new World Record. Wayne piloted a two engine, 6 cylinder Arctic Cat for a speed run In West Yellowstone, achieving world record 95.03 mph.
