We heard some rumours from local dealers about a secret Watch Show in Shenzhen China. Having never been and not able to find any information online, we decided to take a leap of faith to see if we could find any hidden gems.
Holy cow was it worth it. It was nothing like the large scale Watch Shows we were used to in the United States, Dubai or Hong Kong. This seemed almost like a friendly gathering of dealers who each had briefcases and tables full of watches and absolutely zero worry about us looking and examining the watches at our own leisure.
The sellers were quite the characters. Some found it more important to play video games on their phones than to entertain our questions, some sellers were team-tagging, doing live streams/broadcasts to sell watches by the boatload. Some sellers were upfront about the franken watches they had whereas some others were not so honest.
We examined thousands of watches in only an hour or so and ended up negotiating for two pretty spectacular vintage Piaget watches with extremely rare stone dials in exotic configurations.
