These are my video notes in my waffle weave tea towels. This is my first time doing waffle weave. I am a intermediate weaver at this point, still with lots to learn but do these notes to share with some friends and to remind myself of what I did. Please let me know if they are helpful, or if there are any questions.
I had heard about waffle weave, but was SHOCKED at the result. Very cool.
Weaving
I added a plain weave selvedge instead of using a floating selvedge. I’m using a LeClerc Colonial V2 Jack loom with 12 shafts and an overhead beater. Warp is an 8/2 cotton (old blue) with a bouclè weft. 20” in the reed, 10 dent reed, 20 epi. 15 yard warp for 16-17 tea towels 30” long (before hemming). What is unique a is I’m adding a shot of bouclè to mark my hem line (2/3rds of way into the hem) and I’m using a couple extra shafts to give me an 8 shot plain weave selvedge on each side instead of using a floating selvedge.
