WELSH language spoken in Patagonia, Argentina but WHY?
'Y Wladfa' means 'the Welsh Colony' and it was NOT what I expected....
In October 2023 I had the pleasure of visiting Y Gaiman and Trelew in Patagonia. As a Welsh speaker (and proud Welshman) this was a once in a lifetime experience for me. Not only was it incredible to hear my native language over 7500 miles away from Wales but I was also blown away by how much of a warm welcome I had with the lovely people of 'Y Wladfa'. This area of Argentina is often taught in Welsh schools and growing up learning about it made future 'travel Steff' even more intrigued to visit. It was an amazing and somewhat emotional visit and I appreciate anyone who has watched this video, this was a special one. Diolch o galon am wylio a fi'n falch i cadernhau fod yr iaith Gymraeg yn fyw yn Y Wladfa.....
