Just like how we use words and phrases to write sentences in English, we use β€œAlgebraic Expressions” to write equations and inequalities in math.

In this video, we talk about different kinds of algebraic expressions. Some of them are quite simple, while others are more complicated. How do you know something is an algebraic expression? Look for a grouping of numbers and letters, along with an operation (plus, minus, multiplication, division, etc.).

Algebraic expressions are made up of terms (a variable, its coefficient, and a constant). We see several examples of expressions, and see how they are β€œrecipes” for computation. We evaluate these expressions and make up tables of inputs and outputs, to get comfortable using these expressions. Some of these examples have 1, 2, or 3 variables, and some even involve imaginary numbers/complex numbers.
